À propos de cet audio
Civil War veteran John Carter is transported to a dying planet, where he must elude capture by giant green barbarians to rescue a Martian princess from certain doom. In this landmark of science fiction, the myths and mystery of the red planet supply a vibrant backdrop for a swashbuckling epic.
Published in 1911, A Princess of Mars introduced a popular series of novels recounting John Carter's Martian exploits. Author Edgar Rice Burroughs, best known as the creator of Tarzan, employed a new style of writing that combined the genres of fantasy, adventure, and science fiction. His imaginative setting - an advanced but decaying civilization in which Olympian heroics play out against malevolent forces and ever-changing fortunes - endures as a timeless world, in which love, honor, and loyalty form the basis for fast-paced romantic adventures.

Swashbuckling adventure of the highest order
Many is the time I’ve meant to sit down and read this tale. I’m glad I purchased this audio version. The narrator is brilliant, and as the story is told entirely in first person it’s like hearing the story from the lips of John Carter himself. Is it a perfect story? No. Are parts of the story implausible? Sure. But that’s not why you listen. You listen because a man of great courage and exemplary moral fibre faces down one challenge after another to fight for what’s right. The imagination of the author and the extraordinary world he’s built is another reason why this tale is worth your time. Oh and (spoiler alert) although he wins the heart of the Princess and she his, there’s a lot of dangers to be faced and obstacles to be overcome before that happens. And the story doesn’t end quite the way you’d think!
I see the narrator Scott Brick has also done novels 2 and 3 in the series. Onward ho!

Great story, competent narrative. I reccomend.
Good Book, with a lot more details than the movie, but I found Disney's adaptation quite good. There's a lot of parts missing but this book could have easily turned into 2 or 3 movies. I was quite saddened to find out Edgar Rice Burroughs was an advocate of eugenics and scientific racism, maybe that has something to do with the fact that Disney dropped the series. I really hope my sources are wrong. Scott Brick does a good job telling the story.
