À propos de cet audio
The worst decade in the history of the Liberal Party of Canada came to an end on October 19, 2015.
Justin Trudeau swept to power, ending the ten-year rule of Stephen Harper’s Conservatives. Trudeau’s vision was relentlessly optimistic: the word "positive" was heard eight times in his victory speech, along with references to "sunny ways" and "hope and hard work." But the fates decreed that he would govern in darker times. His rookie government, itself mainly staffed by rookies in federal politics, had to learn on the job in an age of polarization, misinformation, and pandemic, while dealing with the rise of Trump and Brexit, a newly belligerent China, and wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. The moment needed more than a young PM's abundant charm. And almost from the outset, Trudeau struggled to rise to the occasion.
A decade after he published The Longer I’m Prime Minister, the definitive portrait of Stephen Harper in power, Paul Wells, one of Canada’s all-time great political writers, turns his attention to Justin Trudeau, a man of talent, ambition, and trust issues in a time of mistrust.

Histoire
In January 2022, a small group of Canadian truckers fed up with nearly two years of COVID restrictions and a new vaccine mandate for cross-border essential workers decided to take their frustrations directly to the nation's capital. The Freedom Convoy quickly took on a life of its own as hundreds of trucks and thousands of protesters made the journey to Parliament Hill. In this book, Andrew Lawton combines his own on-the-ground reporting and countless hours of interviews with the Freedom Convoy's organizers and volunteers to tell, for the first time, the whole story of the convoy.

The world is in flux. Disruptive technologies, ideas, and politicians are challenging business models, norms, and political conventions everywhere. How we, as leaders in business and politics, choose to respond matters greatly. Right Here, Right Now sets out a pragmatic, forward-looking vision for leaders in business and politics by analyzing how economic, social, and public policy trends - including globalized movements of capital, goods, and services, and labor - have affected our economies, communities, and governments.

Clear Fair Balanced
Paul Wells does an excellent job of summarizing the career of the PM. I've followed Justin Trudeau's career closely enough and have gradually like him less and less over time. Wells' analysis is a nuanced criticism that affirms my belief that Justin Trudeau over promised and under delivered and left me reconsidering how much we as an electorate and previous governments are to blame for that.

Well written, good analysis
No matter where you are on the Canadian political spectrum, I think you’ll have to admit that Paul Wells can be counted on to have very well researched and always thoughtful analysis on just about every topic he covers. And all of it written in always intelligent, often slightly satirical, and, frequently, quite amusing prose. This short but quite satisfying book is no exception. A useful and succinct summary of Justin Trudeau‘s life in Canadian politics.
This audiobook version is read by the author in a pleasing conversational style and is a professionally produced audio product. I would’ve given five stars overall but I think that rating should be reserved for productions of very exceptional quality, which occur only rarely.

A depressing read for Canada’s future
As a tax payer and a newly naturalized Canadian citizen, I love Canada’s multiculturalism and centralism political atmosphere. However, I do feel Mr. Trudeau has been form over substance by now and put the country into a precarious place economically. This book is short but biting. Well worth a listen.
