His Hawaiian Majesty Kalakaua
À propos de cet audio
Kamehameha the Great became the sovereign monarch during a time of rapid transition for his islands. His rivals were no longer limited to the kings of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu and Kauai. Ambitious men had arrived from America, England, France, Portugal and Spain, either offering their war material and service personnel to the highest bidder or staking a claim of the islands for themselves and their masters. Amid this turmoil, Kamehameha chose to befriend Kaiana, a chief who had survived the battlefields of Maui and Kauai then travelled to China to learn the foreign arts of war. Kaiana ascended the ranks of Hawaiian society to become the most admired captain of Kamehamehaʻs armies. Would Kaiana deliver victory to his general or would Kamehameha have to contend with yet another rival?
