À propos de cet audio
An Astra Militarum Novel.
An elite squad of Cadian Kasrkin are tasked with a critical mission behind enemy lines. They must rescue their general in xenos-held territory before his dangerous knowledge falls into enemy hands. But not all is as it seems....
Listen to it because....
Hear the legendary elite soldiers of Cadia in action as they take on a mission so dangerous it could only be trusted to troops with their training and equipment.
The story:
When the perfidious t’au bring down a valkyrie containing an Astra Militarum general on the besieged Imperial world of Dasht i-Kevar, all could be lost—what the general knows could break the war effort, and see the planet fall under the control of the vile xenos.
Only the Kasrkin stand a chance at bringing him back. They are the elite of the elite, but the enemy that Captain Bharath Obeysekera and his squad are called upon to fight is unlike any they have faced before—the desert itself, endless and implacable.
With sandstorms cutting them off from support, Obeysekera has only his soldiers to rely on. As the Kasrkin journey deeper into the wastes, they begin to realise they’re not the only hunters searching for the missing general, and that their war has caught the attention of something ancient lurking beneath the desert sands…

Her first mission sees her investigating a cult called the Children of Eternity. Falling foul of the local Enforcers, Ianthe soon learns that war in the shadows is seldom straightforward and that the local, angry law-keepers are the least of her troubles.

The fortress world of Regium has a proud history, For millennia, it has endured when others have fallen to ruin and damnation, standing defiant in defence of the Imperium of Man. But now it is shaken. Parasitic plagues run rampant, and Regium's citizens are haunted by dreams of horrific monsters feasting upon their flesh and marrow. Lieutenant Castamon of the Ultramarines recognises these signs of an impending Tyranid invasion all too well. Rallying his warriors, the battle-hardened veteran launches a strike force to slaughter the xenos in the outer system, before it can reach Regium.

Very interesting views and story
Following weary but dedicated Cadians in their desert travels was an interesting tale.
The second part was somewhat unexpected, but the respect shown between allied enemies against a common foe was refreshing, as well as the analysis over the state of the Imperium and its struggles, and the necessary evils tolerated.

Lame and too many topes
I was thoroughly disappointed in this book. The beginning seems like its almost a copywrite infringement on Dune, then a twist occurs that dramatically improves the story. The twist and expansion of the lore (I wont reveal) is quite interesting, and was my favourite part of the book!
However, Kasrkin are supposed to be Elite soldiers, these were not. They were closer to some of the characters undergoing psychotic breakdown in the movie "Fury" than they were to elite soldiers. I was expecting an average 40k book, and was thoroughly disappointed!
The book might be ok for teenagers who are not well read?

Real meh, didn't finish
Nothing really wrong with it, just seemed like the author wanted to write a different book but was told to write this one. And yes, we've alllll seen/read Dune.
