À propos de cet audio

17th century, Charles II's reign—Barbary pirates spread mayhem and terror in the Mediterranean.

Ralph Wrenn went to sea at the age of ten. Now nineteen and recently promoted, he serves as the fourth officer on the HMS Kingfisher. It masquerades as a merchant ship to capture Barbary pirate vessels.

On one such mission, Ralph meets a beautiful and intriguing young woman. Now, he must contend not just with battles at sea but with a beguiling stranger who is not what she appears to be.

Based on the true exploits of HMS Kingfisher, culminating in the battle of the seven Algerines, this thrilling novel is perfect for lovers of naval adventures and fans of C.S. Forester, John Drake, Patrick O'Brian, Bernard Cornwell, and Griff Hosker.

This novel deserves to be compared with the best British historical Naval adventures. I have listened to the authors other seafaring novels and think that this is his best. The hero of the story, Ralph Wren starts his first duty as a newly commission Lieutenant assigned to a ship that was just being built. His experience in the construction allows him to distinguish himself among the other officers in sailing and fighting the ship. The decoy ship is really a frigate in disguise and our hero guides it through some of the fieriest naval battles of the era, including a battle with seven Algerines in 1675 which apparently was a real historical event. I really enjoyed this novel and am looking forward the next book in the series.

"Kingfisher" is a highly satisfying Sea Story!
