A fun twist on LitRPG adventures
The main character is a sentient computer program designed to make money in a world filled with superheroes and - more importantly - supervillains. Residing in a city ruled by a supervillain for supervillains, our hero - ahem - our main character must find a way to grow in power and wealth while remaining independent. Luckily, he is on the first level of a long forgotten tower filled with incredible technology and magic...if he can get the forces to push through the defenses on each level. And he'd better do so quickly, since he's running out of time before the city's supervillain ruler decides to simply take over.
It makes for an interesting story. The main character is not a hero. He's motivated by greed, plain and simple, and has no compunctions about killing - but that's not that bad in a world where nearly everyone can come back from the dead with a kind of life insurance. However, there's also not a lot of drama in it; while there are setbacks, the main character keeps getting stronger and building an empire. Because of that, the books lack a bit of 'oomph' that would make them truly great. I enjoyed listening to them, but I'm not sure if I would keep reading the series.
