À propos de cet audio
Millennia ago, a magical disaster caused the fall of a great worldwide civilization, the end of a golden age. New civilizations have fought their way up from the ancient destruction and chaos, knowing little of the lost world that preceded them or the details of its fall. Corus today is a world of contending countries, of humans, but also of strange animals and supernatural creatures. It is a place of magical powers and of a few people who are talented enough to use them. Alusius, the hero of the story, is one.

Interesting story and enjoyable listen, but lacks emotional depth
The story is good and overall very typical Modesitt. Interesting world building and premise. But I feel like the main character is kind of wooden and a bit too perfect. He does everything he tries exceptionally well, has few flaws and failings, and most of all doesn't make you feel with him. He goes into all these terrifying situations and never seems to feel more than curiosity and mild alarm. He expects, and later learns, that his grandmother has died and barely reacts. He gets irked at people when he should be enraged at the injustices they do to him. As with a concerning number of other Modesitt protagonists, he's disturbingly sanguine about casually murdering people who are in his way. All together, it makes him generally likeable but unrelatable and forgettable as a character. I hope this improves as the series progresses.

Very good listen
loved it but the only criticism is that the narrator said people's.names stupidly. For example he pronounces "Wendra" as "Wendraw" not a regional accent thing or a book insider thing either. Yet he pronounces "Lucindra" correctly not with the "-aw" on the end. At first I was very annoyed but got used to it by the second book.
