À propos de cet audio
A romantic comedy, with characters from The Sisters of Castle Fortune series, plus the cast of Delphine and the Dangerous Arrangement, in a tale of fated, or perhaps foolish, love.
"Remember Mr Carswell," said the determined 14-year-old, Leonora Fortune, "I’m coming for you!"
That was three years ago, and now she has come.
Leonora, one of two beautiful Fortune twins newly arrived in Town for their Season, had one aim in view: The Honourable Linton Carswell. She first met him at her home, Castle Fortune, three years ago, and now at 17, has arrived to claim her prize.
But Foggy Carswell does not want to be claimed, and has lived in vague fear of the child who once threatened him with the Parson’s Noose. His extreme measures of self-preservation, once Leonora arrives in Town, amuse his family and friends—until they begin to see that the little beauty is serious. Why such a lovely thing should prefer the shrinking (but kind) Carswell, is a complete mystery. But the dance between the two is entertaining to watch. And Leonora might be the only chance to get the marriage shy Foggy wed.
Leonora ignores all her own suitors, in relentless pursuit of Foggy, but is shaken by the arrival of someone determined to catch Foggy herself: his childhood friend, Mary Du Maurier.
As Leonora’s feelings begin to win over her usually fearsome will, it will take many strange alliances to help the two to confront their true destiny. Cousins, sisters, friends, and aunts are all enlisted in the game of cat-and-mouse.
Her twin Marguerite is having her own romance problems, and their male relatives, Papa and George, are making things worse as usual. With older sisters Georgette, Jocasta, Portia, and their husbands to help too, all might seem safe. But as Leonora tells them, they have no idea what scrapes Marguerite’s naivety can lead her to.
As a final family interference, Leonora’s genius sister Katerina appears to act as the worst chaperone in the world, but even she takes part in sorting out the girls’ complicated affairs.
