Description

Someone has a secret. A secret worth killing for....

When a series of suicides, linked to the Wellness Spirit Centre, turn out to be murder, it brings together DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr Georgina Cavendish for another investigation. But as they delve deeper, they come across a tangle of secrets and the very real risk that the killer will strike again.

As the clock ticks down, the only way forward is to infiltrate the centre. But the outcome is disastrous, in more ways than one.

For fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott and M A Comley, Lethal Secret is the fourth book in the Cavendish & Walker crime fiction series.

Includes a special bonus note from the author.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

Plenty of twists and turns!

Truly enjoyed the book. I had the villain narrowed down to two people (or at least figured I did) as the characters were introduced.
Love the authors writing style and can’t wait to read more in this series!

It was good for suspenseful moments.

I figured out the killer half way through. If I figure it out then a star is lost in the rating. They tried to direct attention to certain suspects but did not keep the cloud of mystery for long. Plot holes existed and some mentions did not amount to any story being developed ( the superior to Whitney with the work requests). It all fell in too easily.

Lead detective’s character confusing and frustrating

narration was good. Basic plot of the book was not original but OK complete execution of the book, meh. when the lead detective’s character started to get irritating or the story started to branch off into unnecessary side stories I realized I previously listened to and DNF another book in this series for these exact reasons.

The overall plot of the book is enticing and yes in some books all of the characters are unlikeable, but it kills me when authors take a strong female lead and makes her an immature 12 year old when it comes to romance or authority. It takes away from the story when focus and frustration is on the lead characters actions.

I’m not sure if the author wanted to balance out her personality by making her seem tough and no nonsense when it came to interrogations and looking at the murder but then giddy, innocent and almost like a teenage girl with her first crush when it came to romance and then meek and a pushover when it came to her boss. If this was the plan, the author succeeded.

I ended up skipping to the end and reading just to find out who the murderer was and why they killed
