You want to shake the protagonist for the entirety of the book. I found this audiobook depressing as you move through the tragic and disrespectful relationship.

Depressing, raw, infuriating to listen to as a woman

About 2/3 of the way through this book, I realized how much my ex-husband was like John. Men like that are exhausting. They do one thing to your 50 things, and they think you’re about even. So it’s actually really helpful to read this, where she is doing so much for so long and getting so little appreciation. She’s surviving on crumbs from him – been there done that and not gonna do it again.
Too bad it is indeed sad but don’t we all wish we could get away from a man like this sooner than later? So in that regard, this book is very helpful.

If you want to listen to a bitter and angry woman tell her side of the story so you can feel better about yourself, go for it. Listening to this made me so miserable, I do not recommend it to anyone.
