Behind the scenes of rock and chaos

I first heard about this book when it came out in print and was very excited to see it get an audio version. While the author doesn't read it, the reader does an excellent job. This is a collection of stories from one of the greatest people to take on one of the most heroic and least talked about jobs in rock and roll: The tour manager. A person who wears a billion hats and whose job is to manage constant, unending chaos so the show always goes on, Kim Hawes tells some amazing and often jaw dropping tales of her humble start selling t-shirts to managing the tours of some of rock's biggest and most notorious acts like Motorhead, Concrete Blonde and many others.

Her stories are raw and real and if she's holding anything back, she does a good job at not making it seem that way. Things do jump around chronologically sometimes and you sometimes have to pay attention to follow the leaps back and forth in her career, but if you like rock music and hearing about crazy behind the scenes things, this is a great listen, read by a talented reader who lends great emotional weight to the tales.
