À propos de cet audio
A riveting and powerful story of a runaway girl lured into prostitution in New York City, perfect for fans of Ellen Hopkins and Patricia McCormick.
What do you do if you're in trouble?
When Michelle runs away from her drug-addicted mother, she has just enough money to make it to New York City, where she hopes to move in with a friend. But once she arrives at the bustling Port Authority, she is confronted with the terrifying truth: She is alone and out of options.
Then she meets Devon, a good-looking, well-dressed guy who emerges from the crowd armed with a kind smile, a place for her to stay, and eyes that seem to understand exactly how she feels. But Devon is not who he seems to be, and soon Michelle finds herself engulfed in the world of child prostitution, where he becomes her "Daddy" and she is his "Little Peach." It is a world of impossible choices, where the line between love and abuse, captor and savior, is blurred beyond recognition.
This hauntingly vivid story illustrates the human spirit's indomitable search for home and one girl's struggle to survive.

Deep, beautiful, profoundly touching, tender, realistic. A triumph.
Paradoxically, despite the heart wrenching harshness of the context, this narrative brims with humanity. It speaks to the long reach of good seeds, few as they may be, received in childhood. It pays tribute, in an uplifting way, to an incredible and beautiful bond that can form between vulnerable young girls, with intersecting pasts. Girls, who are facing an uncertain future. Even though it will take more than peer-to-peer affection and friendship, to address their problems.. Imani Parks’ spectacular narration: unflinchingly spot on, character to character: gave me goose bumps. I buy audiobooks, just because of her. Turns out: all that which Ms Parks reads, ranks in the high leagues of literary fiction. Actually, just like this little gem: Little Peach.

Heartbreaking
Such a heartbreaking story. There are so many young girls and boys that fall into similar situations; manipulated and abused, being forced to work the streets. Many don't make it, and those that do often end up as addicts. Everyone has a story. Every addict, every prostitute has their own heartbreaking story. Let's not forget that they are people too. They were all once innocent children, just like Michelle.
Well written and the narration was beautifully done.
