Achieving real personal success and happiness
If that’s your primary goal, I highly recommend Rick Heyland’s book, “Live Your Purpose“, it can be both an inspirational, and practical, boost to your life.
I worked 32 years, in senior positions, with IKEA a very successful furnishings company, famous for, amongst other things, being a big blue and yellow big-box shop full of inspirational ideas and affordable goods.
IKEA’s Mission/Purpose, “To Create A Better Everyday Life For The Many People”, is as valid, and as pursued today, as it ever has been.
They are as successful as they are for many reasons, but in my opinion, it is chiefly because the company’s “Purpose” is at the Center of everything they do and achieve. Their set of Values along with that Purpose, drive most initiatives and it’s so connected to what people want, including their coworkers. Of course the initiatives evolve with the times but the Purpose remains the same.
The company’s success connects directly to Rick’s work and his book. It resonates deeply with me and helps me in my life, because it models the idea of how to personally succeed, and Rick provides a step-by-step process for getting to your Purpose, and keeping it alive. No other book that I’ve experienced, does it this well.
As my mother once said to me, “A plan is a basis for change but failing to plan, is planning to fail”. She was in her 70s.
In essence, Live Your Purpose enables you to plan for the best life you can self-lead, and what’s better than that?
Whatever stage of life you’re at, Rick’s recipe will help guide you to your purpose or even refine your existing one. Then help you to make it come alive. Along the way, his own life stories and connections to other experts, is engaging you. Rick had “lived” this way, so it’s real-life.
In the very early parts of the book, Rick asks you to consider something, in a way most people never do, an intriguing and self-guiding question that could change your life and start you in painting your personal end-in-mind. Check out what he asks you to do, I know you’ won’t regret it!
I also learn and get inspiration regularly from his podcasts. I use Podbean, look up Rick Heyland Cl4Life.
Thanks Rick,
Steve Barnes
