Description

In a context, lobbying can be said to be the art and heart of both democracy and capitalism. At its core, democracy involves lobbying which is persuading and swaying people with promises and or previous performance as proof for prospects. It is the same for capitalism. Among a people where democracy and consequently capitalism prevails, one is meant to lobby for a people or project or policy and or position primarily to advance one’s interest that relatively advances the interests of majority at least or all at most.

Being able to persuade people to ponder a matter, adopt and practice, even review and adjust a social contract, is lobbying in essence. One may lobby by way of ethos, pathos and or logos. Lobbying by the way of ethos is appealing to the authority or status or expertise of the lobbyist, as basis for audiences to trust the lobbyist. Lobbying by the way of pathos is appealing to the emotions, by way of empathy to incite emotions in the audience. Lobbying by the way of logos is appealing to the audience’s intelligence.

By lobbying we may advance the cause or agenda of a people. By lobbying we may accomplish or actualize a project. By lobbying we may advocate or appropriate a policy. By lobbying we may ascend or attain a position. Lobbying happens one way or the other in our daily lives, in every nation, regardless of the type of national government in place. Parents lobby children persuading them to consider and accept certain things. Men and women lobby themselves to be friends and or to be more than friends, etcetera.

Democracy being the order of the day in climes like the U.S.A., enables eligible voters participate in the activity of general lobbying for positions by voters selection of leaders. Those vying for positions, to be attained or to be retained, lobby their target polity for their votes through the agency of campaigns. To effectively attain or retain a leadership position, those vying for positions must persuade and sway their target polity for their votes. By campaigns they make promises and or present proof of performance.

In democratic climes like the USA, senators of different districts on behalf of their districts, participate in congressional lobbying for policies and projects that advance the agendas and best interests of their districts. The districts or people that a senator represents is their polity who are also the public interest group that they represent within the government. A senator participating in congressional lobbying for their polity specifically is also involved in lobbying simultaneously for their country generally.

Capitalism being the order of the day in climes like the USA where democracy holds sway, enables lobbyists and interest groups participate in the activity of special lobbying for policies and projects that advance the agendas and best interests of interest groups. The corporations or individuals that a lobbyist represents is the interest groups that a lobbyist represents within the country. A lobbyist participating in special lobbying for their interest group is also lobbying simultaneously for the economy.

In capitalist climes like the USA, lobbyists seek out and meet with key players in relevant places of interests as it concerns the interest groups that they represent. District senators, diverse unions, workers and students, etcetera, are among the key players that lobbyists seek and meet to sway in ways that benefits the interest groups they represent. Key players are usually influencers and decision makers in government and in relevant places of interest as concerns interest groups that the lobbyists represent.

The senator is paid by the government from tax payers’ monies to represent their polity by lobbying for their polity as priority in relation to lobbying for the country. Lobbyists are paid by their clients being interest groups.
