That forever kind of love
I'm not sure I convey my feelings about this book with words...but I'm going to try.
Ivy is such a fierce woman. She has been through more than someone should have to go through in her twenty-one years...but she doesn't let it define her. She is doing the work, Brit does such a wonderful job of acknowledging Ivy will always have to do the work even if she is completely content and happy. Working through Mental Health struggles and Trauma is life long and it's making sure you have the right people and supports in place to lift you up. The way that Kelli was able to harness the range of emotions for Ivy was beautiful, her ability to channel those moments of panic and the process of navigating her way through them was beyond. **side note: yay for navigating Mental Health with positive coping strategies -therapy, CBT, friends, etc**
Kelley is something else...and I'm rather sad he doesn't exist in the real world because the way he loves Ivy is beyond. He is willing to push down his feelings just to be in her orbit, and if they remain best friends he will accept that. BUT the way he loves her....ooof. He loves her unconditionally, he accepts her for who she is; her past self, her present self and even her future self. He doesn't want her to change who she is. His purpose in life is to love her. The way that Joe was able to channel that feeling took the story to the next level. Joe also took the spicy scenes and blew them out of the park!
The combination of Brit's words and Kelli & Joe's performance really exceeded all of my expectations and more.
Read this book, even if you don't like audio, at least download the ebook OR purchase the paperback...you need it!
