À propos de cet audio

Inside the making of one of the biggest-selling albums of all time: Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.

Fleetwood Mac's classic 1977 Rumours album topped the Billboard 200 for 31 weeks and won the Album of the Year Grammy. More recently, Rolling Stone named it the 25th greatest album of all time and the hit TV series Glee devoted an entire episode to songs from Rumours, introducing it to a new generation. Now, for the first time, Ken Caillat, the album's co-producer, tells the full story of what really went into making Rumours - from the endless partying and relationship dramas to the creative struggles to write and record "You Make Loving Fun," "Don't Stop," "Go Your Own Way," "The Chain," and other timeless tracks.

  • Tells the fascinating, behind-the-music story of the making of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, written by the producer who saw it all happen
  • Filled with new and surprising details, such as Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham's screaming match while recording "You Make Loving Fun"; how the band coped with the pressures of increasing success; how the master tape nearly disintegrated, and the incredible attention paid to even the tiniest elements of songs, from Lindsey playing a chair to Mick breaking glass

Fascinating Behind-The-Scenes Story

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and reading of this book. The story details the arduous process of recording a very popular album during the 70's, along with anecdotes of the band members, highlighting group dynamics and blend of personalities,

I found the technical details very interesting and I can't imagine how much easier the engineers must have it now in today's digital world by comparison.

This is the third book read by Fred Berman that I've listened to now. His voice and style seems perfectly suited for this genre in my opinion, and has become my favourite reader. He has a way to tell the story as if he was the author and is having a conversation with the listener, instead of just reading the words to you. It makes my long drives pleasant and go by quickly.

It so happens that the album Rumours was the very first album given to me in the 70's as a gift from my uncle, whom worked for BMI Records at the time. As a boy then, I can't say that I was thrilled to have received this album as I was not really into music yet, but as I grew, I grew to love it and still have it in my collection of vinyl, with my favourite song being 'You Make Loving Fun', I really appreciate my uncle introducing me to such great music at a young age. This book brought back memories of that time and really makes me want to spin the vinyl on my player so that the songs can be listened to in the order they were intended.

A Great Story - Though a Touch Self-Indulgent

Wonderful story about the making of this amazing album. The author, however, is a little too self-indulgent and self-congratulatory at times. I also tired of the narrator's voice. These are small complaints, though. As someone else wrote in a review elsewhere, it's "a pageturner." I really liked the overall story and the level of detail about the recording process provided. Highly recommended for those who like this album -- and it might make big fans of those only mildly familiar with it. A great rock-history lesson.
