Exasperating

This is a very poorly written book. Bob Shaw is clearly a Mandela fan, but his enthusiam for the subject does not make this a good book. His writing is often anecdotal, with opinions given as facts, and often under researched.

The tone of the book is very Anglo focused with very little (two chapters only devoted to) Mandela. A great deal is anecdotal or opinion pieces that are poorly presented. It’s like reading a very cheesy newspaper article. It’s more the level you expecting BuzzFeed clickbait article (with apologies to BuzzFeed). Plus in only a dozen years this is a dated book.

I do not recommend this book at all.
