Great story
I love the narrators of this story. I didn’t realize it was a trilogy until the book was over. Obviously, I had to buy the second one and put a wish list on the third.

interesting storyline
I like the story line, it could have been reduced 25% I think. a lot of repetition
narration was good (I always wish every book was in duet, but although it wasn't both were enjoyable)

Interesting premise but could be better
To start off, the performances were fantastic and I want to hear more from both of these actors. The story was interesting, but amateurish. The writer spent too much time on the big moments and not enough time leading up to them. There was also nowhere near enough chapters from the male lead’s point of view, only one or two. The entire book should have been just from the woman’s point of view honestly.

Content editor needed!
The premise of this novel and its world are interesting, though not fully fleshed out. There are a lot of gaps that need to be filled. The problem isn’t with the world or the magic system (even if we don’t know what that is!), but with the constant repetition. The author tells us the same pieces of information so many times: Scott needs to learn to trust her readers’ memories and attention to detail. The characters are also not particularly well developed (or even likeable). The FMC could be interesting if she had any drive beyond infantilizing her best friend. The MMC has entirely transactional relationship with the FMC (including the sex for favours and abuse of power framing). I will not read the second book as it was a struggle to finish this one.
For narration, I liked Rose’s reading in general: she has a lovely tone and range of emotions, though I did not care for her Thorn voice (it gave creepy, wealthy old man). For Campbell, his was a cameo reading so unremarkable.
