Description
Against his will, Noctorno Hawthorne, an undercover cop, finds himself embroiled in magic, mayhem and a parallel universe. Too late, he meets an amazing woman only to find she’s destined for his identical twin in another world. And things aren’t going great there.
Noc is recruited to help save that world. What he doesn’t know is his destined love resides in that world.
Franka Drakkar wears a mask. A mask she never takes off to protect herself in a world of malice, intrigue and danger.
When Franka meets Noc and he discovers her secrets, convinced she carries a midnight soul, having shielded herself from forming bonds with anyone, she struggles with accepting his tenderness and care.
When Noc meets Franka, over wine and whiskey, her mask slips and Noc knows it’s her—only her—and he has to find a way to get her to come home with him.
And then make her want to stay.

Emotional upheaval!
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but I knew it would be heavy. I took a small break from my binge of the rest of the series when I got to this one, I needed time to re-group before heading into Franka’s story. I was glad I did, because while this did turn it around, it was a storm of emotions to get there. And not what I expected, not what anyone would, and even when you thought you knew, you didn’t, and it turned again. You knew there had to be brightness, there had to be hope, and sunshine, and rainbows, for these two, and it did all come together in the end. This story brought all sorts of emotions with it and it resonated deeply and will have a lasting effect. In other words, I loved it <3

Quite enjoyable
Overall, I quite enjoyed this book. It was interesting to see things from Franka's point of view, mainly because we already knew quite a bit of her already from the previous books. So it was cool to see the difference between how she is now vs what she was. Another thing that I really enjoyed was the manner in which the majority of the book was written. Since the book is mostly from Franka's point of view, listening to her different way of speak and thinking gave the story an unusual/exciting feel/tone. Overall I really enjoyed it, and it's definitely worth listening to. #Audible1

Midnight Soul
I love these amazing stories and I am looking forward to the next story told in this series. I resisted wanting to listen to this series thinking that fantasy was not going to hold my interest but I was very wrong and instead found myself engrossed in all the characters as well as the stories. Bravo! Truly an awesome storyteller. Thank you. Toni R.

Wraps up the series
This book was just ok for me. I enjoyed the preceding 4 books more than this one. it was nice to see the despicable Franka Drakkar turn around and become the well-loved Frannie, but it happened too easily. Noc seemed like an intelligent, caring, strong man but could not put together a sentence that wasn't laced with slang and F-bombs. It was effing annoying. There were also missed opportunities - was it really all sunshine and roses for this world Dax and that world Circe? What about sweet Josephine? And just how did 38 year old Frannie manage to push out that many children in the epilogue (medical miracle!). I'd like to know more about Valentine's story. She could be such an intriguing character to learn more about.
So, if you've read the rest of the series, might as well finish it. This book is not a good stand alone read.
