À propos de cet audio
In the busy town center of Canterbury, a woman and a young boy are snatched from the street.
A few miles away, a man stands on the edge of a viaduct ready to throw himself off. Sergeant Shaun Carter, a police negotiator, is trying to talk him down, but he dare not get too close. This man is the only person who has the answers needed to find the missing.
These two events will have consequences for everyone they touch. And Shaun Carter is forced to make heartbreaking choices as he faces a vicious criminal network.
As the situation spirals out of control, Shaun asks for help from his maverick police colleague George Elms.

Adequately Entertaining Crime-Thriller
There are some plot elements that require significant suspension of disbelief in this book (they're actually hard to swallow, frankly), but Charlie Gallagher does a nice job providing enough plausible dialogue, plot twists, and action to at least make it easier. His "criminal consortium kidnapping the child/ex-wife of a police officer to force cooperation" plot is thought-provoking and well-paced.. if a little far-fetched.
As to presentation: Gildart Jackson turns in an atypically weak performance. True, his diction, timbre, cadence, tone, and voice-acting are generally impressive.. but he delivers this book with something of a monotone - and his baritone interpretation of semi-extrajudicial confidant 'Detective-Sergeant George Elms' is indistinguishable from his natural narration voice (it's occasionally hard to tell what is dialogue and what is chronicle). Setting playback speed at 0.90X is required to make the confusing transitions easier to delineate.
Altogether, this audiobook merits 6.5 stars out of 10. If you are asked to pay a Credit for it, consider carefully (better options exist).. but it's a reasonable download as a 'Plus' selection.
