Fun but mildly frustrating
Entertaining story. Male characters seemed like a female-written stereotype, as did female characters seem like a male-written stereotype. MC doesn't really connect the dots all that well, has to be violently hand-held through the clues which is probably great if you find yourself lost in movies and asking your partner what's happening.

exciting and twisty
I really like Harlens writing the little digs against Christianity and conservative values kinda annoying but in this time and place never a surprise. must get the digs in when he can I suppose.
if he left that crap our would be perfect, I just want to enjoy the twisty mystery.

Not his best work
I just finished this book and don't know how to explain this. I really enjoy Harlan's gift to weave several seemingly separate stories through one or two central characters into one solution. It keeps you want to continue reading, keeps the suspense up. Same with this story, but towards its culmination it had some very weirdly long introspective mental analysis by characters about their decisions as they were fighting for their lives. It gets to the point of wanting to skip forward to just get on with the story. This is an action thriller with a good story line but the action is presented in slow motion. Somehow it doesn't quite feel like Harlan's own writing style.

Best Coben book yet!
I have listened to about 15 Harlen Coben books and this is my favourite!!! The narrator's voice is fantastic, and the overall story made it really hard to put down. I don't know how he's going to beat this! HIGHLY recommend.

Twisty-turny Passable Mystery
Harlan Coben introduces Detective 'Kat Donovan': a Nepo-Baby (daughter of an NYPD legend) investigator drawn into a case involving a former lover - and her actions and re-actions as a series of surprising revelations unfold are realistic & relatable. Unfortunately, the protagonist is also markedly jaded (men are all narcissitic self-absorbed predators in her world) and noticeably naive (not thinking like a Police Officer *at all*). I found myself not caring about anything that happened to this unlikable amateurish "sleuth".
The writing isn't award-winning (albeit capable), the description is mind's eye vivid, and the plotting is typically imaginative - as you should expect from a Coben book.. but the errors in characterization render this an "average" mystery at best - notably below the author's usual standards.
Fortuitously for audiobook consumers: Reader January LaVoy does her best to elevate the book with a genuinely praiseworthy performance. Her narration is imperfect (reading too slowly, for example), but her diction, timbre, cadence, voice-acting, and tone are impressive.. well above the norm.
In toto, I rate 'Missing You' 5.5 stars out of 10. It's not among Mr. Coben's best efforts, but worth your time as a 'Plus' selection. If they ask for a Credit, however, spend it on another of the author's offerings.

On the edge of my seat!
This was an enthralling book! I was chewing my nails off near the end. Very satisfying ending and interesting ride throughout. There were some conversations where characters did a lot of “you don’t understand!” And “What are you talking about!?” over and over which was at times frustrating, but worth the credit for sure. Great female lead.
