À propos de cet audio
There's only one fact that notorious rake Lord Charles Carlisle and his cousin, Fitzwilliam Darcy, can agree upon: a house party given by the Marquess of Bentham is bound to be intolerably dull. To relieve his boredom, Lord Charles accepts a bet that he can seduce his sister's pretty friend during their stay at Bentham Park. After all, it's easy money for an experienced seducer. Why should he care if his staid cousin Darcy disapproves?
But when Darcy discovers that Lord Charles' new target is none other than Elizabeth Bennet, the woman who refused Darcy's offer of marriage, he cannot stand by and watch as the woman he still loves is callously ruined. What he doesn't know is that Lord Charles has a dark secret, and that his attentions to Elizabeth may not be what they seem. After a midnight rescue, clandestine meetings, a long-lost son, conspiracies, blackmail, and an attempted elopement, everyone can agree that this house party is anything but dull.

I enjoyed this
This is my first Abigail Reynolds P&P variation, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had seen her in a YouTube video, so knew she was quite well-versed in the time period, and this was borne out in the book. The writing was good, the dialogue and manners similar to the formality of the time, and there were some fun, playful scenes (the audio sample is one such), with a good amount of angst and misunderstandings and romance. While there are kissing scenes, there's nothing too steamy - AR is a good writer, and is able to capture the eroticism of a bare shoulder or bare fingers touching, without resorting to raunchiness. This is also the first P&P variation I've read without most of the original characters (mostly it's Lizzy and Darcy with lots of new characters), and I was a bit hesitant, but it worked and kept my interest. The narrator was okay, though I would have liked greater distinction between the characters. I'd like to address a couple of reviewers' concerns about some pronunciations. Note that "markwiss" is the correct English pronunciation of Marquess. Also, "meegraine" is the English version of what North Americans call a "mygraine." AR did her research on that last one - the book actually uses the obscure and no-longer-used variant "megrim" which does take some getting used to. To sum up, I enjoyed this book, and will be looking at more AR titles for my JAFF collection.
