À propos de cet audio
Helen Keller has been inspiring people for over a hundred years now. After a terrible sickness left her deaf and blind at the young age of 19 months, most people would have wallowed in their misfortune and lived a life filled with self-pity, but not Helen. After meeting Anne Sullivan, a God-send who taught her how to overcome seemingly impossible odds and communicate using the manual alphabet, Helen overcame one obstacle after another, defying all odds against her.
She became the first blind and deaf person to receive a Bachelor of the Arts from Radcliffe College, graduating cum laude. She was a vanguard for women's suffrage, labor rights, and pacifism, and was awarded with a vast array of awards and medals for all her efforts, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Helen was also a powerful writer, and her autobiography “The Story of My Life,” which she wrote in 1903, continues to inspire and change lives. She wrote this volume, “My Religion,” as a counterpart to “The Story of My Life.” The first book tells the story of her physical experience on this earth, while “My Religion” tells of her spiritual journey with God. It is a deeply personal, and intimate story.
Included in this book, is Helen’s essay, Optimism. In it, she shares her thoughts and beliefs on this quality that is often overlooked, but so necessary in life, especially in hard times.
