While on a bus tour on the Scottish moors in the mid-1990s, amateur sleuths John and Sara Todd overhear what sounds like a plot to murder. In a castle hotel, they wake to a scuffle in the hallway. When a body is found in the pond the next morning, Scotland Yard and the local constabulary are called in.
