After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of 15, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he'd fought so hard to forge when his children were young - particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one's own.

Motherhood is a challenge. Unfortunately, our worldly culture offers moms little in the way of real help. Mamas only connect to celebrate surviving another day and to share in their misery, rather than rejoice in what God has done and to build each other up in hard times. There has a be a better way, a biblical way, for mamas to grow and thrive. M Is for Mama offers advice, encouragement, and scripturally sound strategies seasoned with a little bit of humor to help you embrace the challenge of biblical motherhood and raise your children with love and wisdom.

Ce que les critiques en disent
“The Bradley Method’s simple objective, through relaxation, breathing, and visualization, is a birth free of the interventions frequently offered to women in the different stages of childbirth: fetal monitors, drug-induced labor, anesthesia, episiotomy, and Caesarean section. (Its) other defining feature, the husband’s active participation in the delivery, is critical to this overall goal of an intervention-free birth.” (Mothering)

Birthing advice for every mom
A previous review said this book was condescending, I didn't find it condescending at all, instead an advocate for mothers to be informed on having the best for themselves and the baby. Ultimately, it's the mothers choice, which we need to hear more of.
This method is only considered unconventional in the Western world, so I was grateful to have such insight on natural birthing practices and different scenarios in natural birth because you typically cannot get information like this from a general practitioner. Nothing against GPs, it's just that they aren't taught this in med school, so they can't advocate for something they are not confident in advising on.
Will be listening to this more than once as I prepare to birth!!

Lots of Info, filter through what you need from it
Ton of information. Excellent resource.
Take what you need, skip ahead of it gets repetitive, the information is a bit redundant and long. Some sections might be easier to get through if they were abridged.

Condescending, chauvinistic, but still helpful
I found the narrator to sound condescending in certain moments and that was hard to get passed. I also disliked some of the language used around pelvic floor strengthening 'sagging, loose and weak' are not helpful or supportive terms when talking to women about their pelvic floors. It paints a picture of shame and fear.
Otherwise I enjoyed that this method involves your partner in the process of overcoming different challenges in child birth. Looking forward to giving mine more information that he can work with.
