Some have described this book as GoT meets Sopranos. Another clear facet of this book would be how poetically Paulo Bacigalupi has written this story. The stories that follow along the main plot remind me of Shakespeare. I initially felt this book had a slow burn and dragged a bit. But after completing this book, in hindsight it was all valuable. The world building and slow burn was vital in understanding the depths of what was happening and how people had changed compared to the start of the book. I didn’t know whether to cry, scream, or take a breath of fresh air when I was done reading. I very rarely rate books as 5 stars, and yet I feel that 5 stars did not do it justice. I wish for 65 more chapters. There are many questions. They don't "need" to be answered but I would appreciate if they were tidied up.
I have enjoyed previous Bacigalupi efforts but this is the cream!
