This debut novel by Roisín O'Donnell immediately grabbed me and would not let me go. I’ve not rooted for a character this hard in a long time—Ciara Fay is a woman propelled into action despite immense internal and external pressure to relent and just go back to her controlling husband. He's almost convinced her that everything bad in their lives is her fault, but deep down she knows his abuse will only get worse. Even more profound to me is how, despite an almost complete loss of self, something in her knows she can regain that self-worth and create a thriving and love-filled life for herself and her children. The painful process of realizing and accepting that your partner is not the great person you thought you were marrying, is not easy. I loved the courage and determination of the woman to thrive through seemingly insurmountable circumstances.
I now hate men(just joking!)The only thing I didn’t like was the voices of the children.

I was hoping after listening to the book the end would offer a little bit more of a conclusion. Also the narrator made the children’s voices sound like loud witches instead of small children. It was very annoying .
