À propos de cet audio

Never Get Angry Again, by New York Times and internationally best-selling author David J. Lieberman, is a comprehensive, holistic look at the underlying emotional, physical, and spiritual causes of anger and a practical guide to what the listener can do to gain perspective.

David J. Lieberman understands that a change in perspective is all that is needed to help keep from flying off the handle. In Never Get Angry Again, he reveals how to see anger through a comprehensive, holistic lens, illuminates the underlying emotional, spiritual, and physical components of anger, and gives listeners simple, practical tools to snuff out anger before it even occurs.

Take a deep breath and count to 10. Meditate. Visualize your happy place. You've probably heard all of these anger management techniques and more from friends, family, and experts, but somehow they miss the mark when it comes to coping with the complex emotion of anger.

Let's face it: If anger-management techniques were effective, you wouldn't be listening to this audiobook. These clumsy attempts to maintain calmness are usually futile and sometimes emotionally draining. The fact is, either something bothers us (causing anxiety, frustration, or anger), or it doesn't. A state of calm is better accomplished by not becoming agitated in the first place. When we fight the urge to blow up or melt down, we fight against our own nature.

Nothing you couldn't find for free

It was a good listen but nothing you couldn't find for free with a quick Google search.

Excellent. On my third listen!

Kind of embarrassing to admit - I’ve just started my third listen. I want to tell you that not crazy, but maybe I am… and I need to grow up. At 44, I’m learning why I get angry and how I’m not powerless. Every time I feel overwhelmed (maybe it’s the pre-meno talking), I go to a quiet corner and start listening. It feels empowering and hopeful to know that I can harness these feelings and actually stop them before they start. Real empathy, selflessness and being ruled by the person and not the ego are key. I’m most grateful to Mr. Lieberman for this book. As a faithful person, I found it solid and not new-agey. I appreciated that - new research on the brain and yet wisdom of the ages. Highly recommend and Godspeed fellow sojourners. There is hope.

Thorough!

A thorough (in both theory and practice) read on the subject of anger, how it helps, how it hurts, how to make it work for you and how it works against you. Great illustrations, touches slightly on some spiritual aspects as well to add extra well-rounded easy to the subject. Practical help/exercises included.

excellent book

great experience and knowledge. sound advice and deep, professional information. don't mind those athiest reviews who cry about mentions of spirituality. perhaps they can manufacture a new brain and emotion system out of Lego blocks, but for actual human beings spirituality is a pillar of existance and absolutely worth addressing within the context. great book, would recommend to anybody, regardless if they're angry or not or believe in god. ego exposure, and its different forms was very insightful.

Well written until... god takes over

This book provides some concepts and ideas to consider (with lots of common-sense stuff as well). Early on, the author combines humour and real-life examples, which get you thinking. However, what the author failed miserably to identify to his audience is how heavily and abruptly the content and theories presented become faith-based and he preaches that we must rely on our faith and on god to successfully release or handle feelings of anger. Suggesting that faith is required to do this successfully is merely opinion-based and targeted to a very specific audience. The abrupt shift this book takes means the content (which I initially enjoyed) is no longer applied to a broad audience, creating disengagement.

I recognize and respect those who chose faith to guide them in life. I personally didn't appreciate the sudden shift. The author didn't have the courtesy to inform potential readers of his message upfront, I hope readers take the time to read reviews and inform themselves before making this purchase. For those of us who didn't, there's still a way to enjoy the book and find a way to supplement the heavily religious content that begins about 2/3 of the way through. I think people can get through the remainder of the book and extract some stuff that could potentially be helpful. Having said that, the title of the book suggests to me that those of us that do purchase this book may struggle with emotions, and the faith-based content becomes quite irritatting, especially since it's so sudden, hard, and heavy. It's not a bad book, but it contains a very disappointing and personal shift that should never have been included without identifying this on the cover of the book. This was likely a strategic move for sales purposes.

Beware Trojan Christians

Great listen with great advice until the author started going on about god and religion.

Some content is good, some of it gets very religious

I don’t expect every book or opinion to be exactly tailored to what I feel and believe. However I did feel like this book somewhat leads you on only to pull the carpet from beneath you with some of their statements.

I understand and agree with understanding what others are going through and practicing empathy. However bringing religion into the equation simply is not necessary and off putting. Stating one can’t love and trust unless they love and trust an imaginary being is a bit of hyperbole and defeats the purpose of being responsible and mature with one’s emotions.
