À propos de cet audio
New York Times Best Seller
The new must-listen epic from master storyteller Ken Follett: more than a thriller, it’s an action-packed, globe-spanning drama set in the present day.
“A compelling story, and only too realistic.” (Lawrence H. Summers, former U.S. Treasury Secretary)
“Every catastrophe begins with a little problem that doesn’t get fixed.” So says Pauline Green, president of the United States, in Follett’s nerve-racking drama of international tension.
A shrinking oasis in the Sahara Desert; a stolen US Army drone; an uninhabited Japanese island; and one country’s secret stash of deadly chemical poisons: all these play roles in a relentlessly escalating crisis.
Struggling to prevent the outbreak of world war are a young woman intelligence officer; a spy working undercover with jihadists; a brilliant Chinese spymaster; and Pauline herself, beleaguered by a populist rival for the next president election.
Never is an extraordinary novel, full of heroines and villains, false prophets and elite warriors, jaded politicians and opportunistic revolutionaries. It brims with cautionary wisdom for our times, and delivers a visceral, heart-pounding story that transports listeners to the brink of the unimaginable.

This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. D-Day is approaching. They don’t know where or when, but the Germans know it’ll be soon, and for Felicity "Flick" Clariet, the stakes have never been higher. A senior agent in the ranks of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) responsible for sabotage, Flick has survived to become one of Britain’s most effective operatives in Northern France. She knows that the Germans’ ability to thwart the Allied attack depends upon their lines of communications, and in the days before the invasion, no target is of greater strategic importance than the largest telephone exchange in Europe.

Excellent Narration with amazing voice adaptation
My first Ken Follet novel was a winner! The narrator could alter her voice to make the characters come to life. I was captivated from the beginning and enjoyed the thrill.

I’m on the fence with this one
It’s not you’re regular Follett. Most of the stuff that happens in the first half of the book is pretty much superfluous to the entire story and gets dropped towards the end of the book. I don’t get the point of it. It was this side story that couldn’t really follow through to the end of the book because it had zero to do with the 2nd half. Because of that it was just ok for me. I was hoping for so much more.

A pretty good story
I’m a big fan of Ken Follett. I have to say this was probably not the best book of his has but I still enjoyed it. I think he wants to make a point about how fragile our world is. I think we all know that. Especially these days. I wish there was some hope at the end of the book.

I wish I had not read it.
This book, like anticipating a holocaust or school shooting, is a miserable horror show to a well educated sincere and sensitive mind. It is written with the assumption that when there is sex and romance in either order, it is Ok to have evil annihilation.

I was Hooked!
I think that the negative reviews come from people who bought this thinking it was a traditional Ken Follett epic. It is not. I found the story compelling and interesting but it certainly isn't the normal Ken Follett.
The narrator is fantastic!
