Description
Night is an unmistakably autobiographical account of the author's own gruesome experiences in Nazi Germany's death camps. Told through the eyes of 14-year-old Eliezer, the tragic fate of the Jews from the little town of Sighet unfolds with a heart-wrenching inevitability. Even as they are stuffed into cattle cars bound for Auschwitz, the townspeople refuse to believe rumors of anti-Semitic atrocities. Not until they are marched toward the blazing crematory at the camp's "reception center" does the terrible truth sink in.
Recounting the evils at Auschwitz and Buchenwald, Wiesel's enduring classic of Holocaust literature raises questions of continuing significance for all future generations: How could man commit these horrors, and could such an evil ever be repeated?

Ce que les critiques en disent
"Elie Wiesel’s memoir of life in the Nazi death camps has been reissued with a new translation by Wiesel’s wife, Marion. Read by George Guidall, this new edition is a brilliant and haunting reminder of these horrific crimes, as well as a testament to Wiesel’s faith and resilience. Guidall is the ideal reader, and gives yet another masterful performance. Every word Guidall utters reminds the listener of the fear, the suffering, and the hatred Wiesel witnessed and experienced as he drew upon his every instinct to fight for survival. The audio edition also contains a new preface by Wiesel, as well as Guidall’s performance of Wiesel’s Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech. NIGHT is already a classic, and this audio edition is a superb complement to the text. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award." (AudioFile magazine)
"[A] slim volume of terrifying power." (The New York Times)

Profoundly Heartbreaking
This account, so brilliantly written, and at great cost, bears testimony to the unimaginable. It redeems suffering by telling of man's capacity to lose all humanity. We must never forget.

A truly touching story
There Re a few books that everyone in the world should read. This is one of them. Captivating story read by as good a voice as I could imagine for the topic. Once you’ve read the book, I would challenge you to ponder on the reality that Eli lived through. Are similar things still happening to this day? They sure are... we must not remain quiet in the face of current atrocities seen in a wide range of impoverished countries. Open your eyes and heart and help out!

Lasting Impression
It's rare to hear an account of surviving the concentration camps without the story sticking with you, and this book is no exception. The prisoners' discussion on losing their faith has come to mind often for me, and this book is incredibly memorable.

Something I’ll remember forever
The first holocaust book I’ve ever read, and it was devastating. It was painful, but I think everyone should read it.

Powerful and profoundly sad
It was, at times, difficult to listen to this incredible book. Some of the atrocities described are like a gut punch. That said, I think it should be required reading (or listening as the case may be) for everyone. An excellent choice of narrator brought the story even more gravitas.

A must read.
After being exposed to so many accounts of the atrocities that took place during WWII (and indeed almost all wars) it is still so hard to comprehend the depth and scale of what took place at the hands of Nazi Germany. This book truly brings you into that experience yet leaves one with the knowledge that no one who was not there can ever comprehend the horror of the concentration camps. A highly recommended read for all humans.

A must read
I read this in high school. It left an impression. I wanted my children to read this as well but need to re-read, to make sure they were ready for this kind of content. They aren’t there yet but I have the book waiting for them.
I enjoyed the narration. It felt like someone reliving those events instead of someone just reading a book.
Would highly recommend
