À propos de cet audio

A shocking act of sabotage draws a retired spy into a deadly conspiracy in an explosive thriller by an Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling author.

After three decades in counterintelligence, Brad Trasker is retired, disillusioned, and dealing with a tragic loss. Spy games are behind him until he attends the launch of a next-generation aircraft. When the project of innovative aerospace CEO Kylie Connor explodes on the tarmac—nearly killing her in the process—Trasker is pulled back into the line of fire.

The mystery of the sabotage quickly deepens. All Kylie’s data has been wiped from the server. One of her engineers has disappeared. A seed investor has died in a suspicious car accident. And a cold-blooded murder raises the stakes even higher.

To discover who’s pulling the strings behind a dangerous conspiracy, Trasker needs to find a motive. Corporate espionage, revenge, or something he can’t yet see? Targeted by assassins, he finds himself overmatched when he realizes he can’t trust anyone—including Kylie. Too long out of a game he no longer understands, Trasker must adapt or die.

Pedestrian 'Mission Impossible' Clone

Retired Counterespionage Expert Brad Tasker investigates an explosion that almost kills a quasi-celebrity CEO for an aerospace giant presenting a game-changing aircraft. Is the explosion espionage or something else?
Author Andrew Mayne's plot is well-planned and conducted capably - but didn't really captivate my attention at any point. The description is creditable at best, the action is poorly-scripted, the dialogue is stilted, and the characters are relatively uninteresting. In toto, the book is a run-of-the-mill entry in the spy-flavored Action-Adventure genre.

As to presentation: Reader James Anderson Foster unhelpfully contributes to my subpar assessment of the book. His diction, timbre, and cadence are serviceable.. but he reads with something of a monotone and with an uninspired voice-acting repertoire. This Brilliance Audio Inc. product is a distinctly below-average recording.

I bought this book as a Daily Deal.. and it was not a good investment of $2.09 CDN. 'Night Owl' merits a mere 4 stars out of 10. Keep Browsing (or just stick to Mark Greaney/Vince Flynn).

[NOTE: The Fieldcraft employed by Tasker's team - Procedures, Redundancies, use of Passwords, etc. - is straight-up excellent]
