À propos de cet audio
Contrary to popular perception in the West, Islam is a religion firmly rooted in the prophetic traditions of the Jewish and Christian scriptures. Aslan begins with a vivid account of the social and religious milieu in which the Prophet Muhammad lived. The revelations that Muhammad received in Mecca and Medina, which were recorded in the Quran, became the foundation for a radically more egalitarian community, the likes of which had never been seen before.
According to Reza Aslan, we are now living in the era of "the Islamic Reformation". No god but God is a persuasive and elegantly written account of the roots of this reformation and the future of Islamic faith.

Essential read for all!
From a new convert point of view, this is a must read for all. Get a history lesson, mixed with a Theology and current events lesson. Great read for the family members of a new convert to dispel myths about Islam and how to differentiate Islam vs Extremism

Great listening, but apologetic to be sure.
Having listened to this right after zealot, since I thoroughly enjoyed it, it is clear that Reza has favored one faith over the other. That is fine, his perogative. Not that he really criticized Jesus, since so little is known about him, but he did lambast Paul. Perhaps for good reason. I found Zealot to be a truly illuminating book, since I grew up as a Christian. Well, Im not about to spend 1000 hours, as he may have, to research and verify every detail, so I must rely on more subtle clues to see how fair he is to one story or another. Particularly it's his apologistic attitude toward Mohammads caravan raids and 'completely legalistic and innocent' marriage to a child that struck me. Look, times have changed, we can all acknowledge that. But let's not pretend that caravan raids are not barbaric and robbery, and that he most likely boinked his child bride a few times.
