Description
After discovering a man’s body in the Rotherhithe tunnel, Alice Carter embarks on one of the most unusual cases she will ever encounter.
Politicians and civilians are dying in odd circumstances and it leaves her mentor, Max Greenstick, scratching his head.
Why are they being targeted, and what links the outlandish deaths together?
Max calls on a group of warrior women for help, Alice kisses a hot nightclub owner and the two of them battle for their lives in a Masonic Lodge.
Cases are never predictable when you work for the world’s most unusual police force, however a taxonomist and a hungry vegetarian might help them solve this, great fun mystery.
Expect comedy, adventure, and romance!
Ce que les critiques en disent
"Narrator Elena Valentine introduces Alice Carter, who is in training to become a detective in Book 2 of this series. (Beginning with Book 1 is a must.) Listeners relish meeting the 'ploids' division of London's Metropolitan Police.
The 'ploids' possess unusual traits that set them apart, including Carter's overabundance of static, which can act as a weapon. Valentine excels with diverse accents - Russian, Italian, and multiple London accents - and adds other vocal features to further identify the characters.
The standout is flamboyant, gay Vinnie, who can grab objects with his long tongue, which unnerves suspects, making him an extremely effective police presence. Colorful London depictions, creepy - sometimes gross - situations, and a lighthearted view of superheroes blend with humor, mystery, and science fiction for an unusual contemporary series."
