À propos de cet audio
Do you have a child with oppositional defiant disorder and have no idea how to deal with him or her? Do your child’s defiance and aggression exhaust you and make you angry or worried? If so, this is the audiobook for you.
This book presents a new framework for understanding children’s defiant behavior. The framework is based on the principle that oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is largely learned. It is not the result of bad parenting or bad genes, but because of bad experiences with parents. By learning to communicate better with your child and by avoiding power struggles, you can change the way your child reacts to you.
All parents want their children to be happy, well-behaved, and to love them unconditionally. Yet there are some children who seem determined not to give their parents this satisfaction. This audiobook contains a proven program for overcoming a child's negative behavior and teaching him or her the skills he needs for cooperative living. These lessons are based on behavioral principles that have been shown to be successful in many difficult child situations.

Good material Poor audio experience
I’m sure the material in this book is great. The content I was able to listen to was clear and concise however, the narrator is overly emphasizing their pronunciation and their intonation is off and doesn’t sound natural at all. I can’t finish this book.

Zero examples
This book is so dry. Robotic narration. Lists upon lists of what “should” be done. With zero examples of how to do so with a defiant child. No help at all.

Such a Helpful Book for Parents
The information laid out in this book is very easy to follow. Many of the chapter’s subtitles are Questions, which I found particularly helpful when listening, as the book answered so many of my questions.
Look, parenting ANY child is hard enough. Raising a child with oppositional defiant disorder is a new struggle. If you’re struggling, you’re not alone. This book’s strategies and suggestions are very helpful. I learned techniques and methods to solve some problems children with ODD cause. And I really appreciated the acknowledgment that children with ODD are different from other children. So the strategies we use to support them need to be different.
Overall, such a great listen!
