They run afoul of Stringer Jack's band of horse thieves as they attempt to start a horse ranch on the Yellowstone River, hoping to sell mounts to Fort Keogh's cavalry. Lloyd's novel contains historical facts as accurately portrayed as possible, while still a work of fiction full of interesting characters and the use of vintage firearms such as the old Sharps rifles, Henry rifles, and the colt pistol. Gun enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the Montana saga.
