À propos de cet audio
In this post-apocalyptic thriller, a group of American friends search for safety following disaster, but danger is hunting for them.
America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse—the stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce, and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.
As hordes of refugees and looters pour out of the cities, a small group of friends living in the Midwest desperately tries to make their way to a safe-haven ranch in Northern Idaho. The journey requires all their skill and training since communication, commerce, transportation, and law enforcement have all disappeared. Once at the ranch, the group fends off vicious attacks from outsiders and then looks to join other groups that are trying to restore true constitutional law to the country.
Patriots is a thrilling narrative depicting fictional characters using authentic survivalist techniques to endure the collapse of the American civilization. Listening to this compelling, fast-paced novel could mean the difference between life and death one day.

America is in the thrall of a full-scale socioeconomic breakdown. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation destroys the value of the dollar, and the population, unprepared for hardship, panics. Practically overnight, the high technology infrastructure and chains of supply collapse and wholesale rioting and looting grip every city. Law enforcement, transportation, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies are all in the past now, as the country staggers beneath its own weight.

The news is full of disturbing events today. There's war and rumors of war. There's the false recovery of the economy. Faith in the US economy is extremely low. Foreign banks have either slowed their purchases of Treasury Bonds or, in a few cases, begun unloading them. We have a current election that is rife with corruption, extreme partisanship, and outright fraud. It would appear the left in the country is ready to do about anything to see their candidate elected.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

Most people think that being prepared for catastrophe means stocking up on MREs and building a bunker in their backyard, but this approach leaves you vulnerable in the real world of car accidents, natural disasters, grid failures, and global pandemics. Prepared overturns today’s paranoid survival wisdom and teaches the foundational skills of preparedness that will not only help you build situational awareness and achieve greater mobility but that will also help you build resilient mental habits.

Before the lights went out, Jack Warrant never considered himself a prepper. That was someone on the edge, a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday cultist who had a fatalistic view of the world. He was neither a theorist nor a cultist. He was an optimist. At least that was what he told himself when the darker thoughts creeped into his psyche as he stared at the ceiling in the middle of the night. Whenever he started down the rabbit hole, he always clawed his way back into the sunlight.

Rawles' other books are prefereable
Let me preface this review by stating I am sort of a prepper myself, and I've read Rawles' "How to Survive the End of the World as We Know it", which is great, so I approached this title with an open mind.
But I just could not get more than halfway done for the following reasons:
1) The narrator Dick Hill should stick to reading in his normal voice - he tries to do different accents (Mid-west, Mexican, even Scottish), and it just doesn't work, it's cringy and hard to listen.
2) The character dialogue seems very forced and unnatural.
3) The characters' personalities also seem forced and unnatural.
4) There is way too much detail not relevant to the plot in any way (several minutes describing blood type compatibility, for example).
5) The author continually, and for no apparent reason, switches between referring to the characters' first and last names, which gets confusing.
6) Rawles' book "Survivor" is essentially the same book, with the same issues (#1-5).
In summary, if you're looking to be entertained, and are not interested in prepping, you'll be disappointed. If you're into prepping and would like to be entertained, you'll be disappointed.
Read "How to Survive the End of the World as We Know it" by Rawles if you're into prepping.
