À propos de cet audio
This Audible Original Drama of Peter Pan takes listeners on a magical adventure with Peter, Wendy, Michael and John as they arrive in Neverland and take on Captain Hook with the help of Tiger Lilly and Tinker Bell.
The story begins at home in London during The Blitz, and Mary Darling is planning to evacuate her children to the countryside. However, her plans take an unexpected turn when a familiar face from her childhood returns...the one and only Peter Pan, the mysterious boy from Kensington Gardens. Intrigued by their mother’s friend, Wendy, Michael and John seek Peter Pan out, resulting in them being whisked off to Neverland and setting up home with Peter, Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys.
As Peter and his gang come up against the wickedly evil Captain Hook, their friendships and relationships are put to the test - can Wendy be honest with Peter about how she really feels, and will Michael and John return home without their sister?
Rupert Everett (The Happy Prince, My Best Friend’s Wedding) stars as Captain Hook alongside Adeel Akhtar (Four Lions, Killing Eve) as Smee, Gerran Howell (Catch-22, Emerald City) as Peter Pan and Eleanor Worthington Cox (Maleficent, Britannia) as Wendy alongside a full cast.
To mark the launch of this drama, Audible will be donating to Great Ormond Street Hospital, to whom J.M. Barrie unexpectedly and generously gifted his copyright of Peter Pan.
Performed by: Adeel Akhtar, Mariska Ariya, Catherine Bailey, Rupert Everett, Neil Frost, William Harper, Gerran Howell, Simon Kane, Mack Keith Roach, Rocco Padden, Richard Reed, Maya Shepelev, Louis Suc, Harry Tuffin and Eleanor Worthington-Cox.

This is a dramatized version!
This was well made, but not a direct reading of the book. Maybe my fault for not reading close enough, but i hate that all of the author’s dexcriptive language is removed. You’re essentially listening to a movie.

The actors are amazing!
When I first bought this audiobook, I thought I was getting an audio adaptation of the original. The setting of this Peter Pan is very different from the original (Edwardian England vs. WW2 London). I was surprised, but I have no regrets! The themes of childhood, the fear of growing up, imagination are all present and retain their poignancy in this adaptation. However, what really sells this adaptation are the performances.
Rupert Everet's performance as Captain Hook is amazing! He is absurd, funny, yet dark and unsettling at times. In the original novel, Captain James Hook, underneath his veneer of class and social prestige, is, in fact, a pathetic man whose hatred for Peter Pan probably only equals his own self-loathing. This version is a bit more comical, but it delivers the point that Hook's purpose in life and defeat are intertwined with his hatred of Peter Pan. Also, it is very hard not to burst out laughing during his interactions with Smee (played by Adeel Akhtar).
Gerran Howell is excellent as Peter Pan! Peter is innocent, adventurous, and carefree because he will never grow up, but he can also be callous and manipulative at times. Howell manages to deliver on all these aspects of the character, which is why he is a joy to listen to. Never mind he is a grown-up playing a teenager.
Eleanor Worthington-Cox gave us a splendid Wendy Darling. In this adaptation, Wendy's reasons to follow Peter Pan to Neverland have less to do with the fear of growing up than the will to escape the horrors and sorrow of WW2 London during the Blitz. Since the war is robbing her of her innocence, Wendy chooses to go to Neverland with her brothers, towards a happier place where they all can be children again. Nevertheless, Wendy is mature, in on the fun, coming in to herself and the reason why this story has remained timeless.
Overall this was a great take on these iconic characters and this timeless story!
Definitely one of my all-time favorite audio plays!

A Big Thumbs Up
My daughters gives this book a big thumbs up but Captain Hook gets a big thumbs down.
Except for one of the pirates - they get a big thumbs down as well.
It was funny and imaginative, they wish they could fly, just like Peter Pan.
My kids enjoyed and yours may too.
