The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension and on learning to speak Japanese.

auduble useless for learning languages
there is a bug with the app that causes syllables to be cut. if it is your native language, you might be ok, but not for learning a language. it is random, but I've had to purchase a cd version directly from the publisher and copy it to my device. not cool.

Really difficult without accompanying text
I found it really difficult to know if I was pronouncing the words correctly without text accompanying it. Especially when there are so many audibly indistinguishable sounds such as “de” and “te” in Japanese. I found myself constantly searching to find the words spoken to see how they are written which also proved to be difficult as a beginner since I’m not as familiar with the spelling of the sounds I’m hearing.
