This course includes lessons 26 through 30 from the European Portuguese Level 1 program, featuring 2.5 hours of language instruction. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons is included in each lesson. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension and on learning to speak European Portuguese. A user's guide is included. Reading lessons are included at the end of each lesson to provide you with an introduction to reading European Portuguese. In addition the combined reading lessons are included. These lessons, which total over one hour, are designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent. A reading booklet is included with your download.

The European Portuguese Language

Portuguese is the mother tongue of about 170 million people, mainly in Portugal and the Portuguese islands in the Atlantic, Brazil, and Portugal's former overseas provinces in Africa and Asia. Pimsleur's European Portuguese teaches the Lisbon dialect of Portuguese.
