As one woman looks toward motherhood and the other toward middle age, the relationship between the two begins to blur in strange, complicated, and ultimately heartbreaking ways.

Funny and intense

I wasn't expecting this novel to delve so deep into mental illness and addiction, but it went there. Characters were so human. Jokes got deeply uncomfortable / awkward. Highly relateable and somehow still shocking scenes. Amazing writing.
