À propos de cet audio
A classic of children's literature! The book's success led to Porter writing a sequel, Pollyanna Grows Up. Eleven more Pollyanna sequels, known as "Glad Books", were later published. Due to the book's fame, Pollyanna has become a byword for someone who - like the title character - has an unfailingly optimistic outlook. Pollyanna has been adapted for film several times.

A Childhood Favourite
My mother told me about this book when I was a child as it was one of her favourites. I loved it and practised the Glad Game that the little girl, Pollyanna, played whenever things went badly. I decided to reread this book and listened to the audio version. I still love the story, the characters, and the idea behind it. However, the over-100-year-old story is written in a style that is no longer in fashion. For instance, I found the overuse of adverbs to be jarring and took away from the tale. I also couldn't warm up to the narrator and would have preferred a younger, female voice for this story. I'm still 'glad' that I have become reacquainted with this delightful young orphan girl who spreads sunshine and happiness everywhere she goes, and introduced me to the power of positive thinking.
