Will she rise to the occasion? Or will the Empire fall at the hands of one of its many enemies?

Fantastic read!
This is my favourite audible book thus far. Good amount of suspense and intrigue all the way through, and the characters are very strong. I loved the action, romance, mystery, everything! Hope to see the next book from this series on here soon. Wonderful read!!

Awesome story.
Everything was great about this story. The narrator was great also but I had to speed it up bit which is no biggie.

delicious
I so enjoyed this. I love the complexity of characters' flaws and growth. well written queer romance and erotica. without spoilers... if you get to a certain point and worry about certain unfortunate queer tropes happening... just keep reading through the epilogue!! here I go onto book 2.

Great LGBTQ fantasy
the love story between the gaurd and the princess was my favorite part. im not that big on fantasy but the story was intriguing. if enjoy both you will probably love this. if just like the fantasy or just romance but you won't mind dabbling in a bit of both you'll enjoy this. The romance between the guard and the princess is suddal at first but then really starts to pick up and hit it's peak about half way in to the book. the book is not a slow burn love story im not a fan of slow burns so I'm thank full this one wasn't

Excellent!!
This book was more than i could have hoped for! I went in with not great expectations since I was told it was similar to a fantasy romance book that I disliked, that is currently very popular, but I was blown away!! I didn't see many of the twists coming and was so happy to see WLW fantasy romance given such amazing plot and characters. Thank you!

This was exactly what I wanted in an epic fantasy series! I'm so glad this story is continuing and now I must read the t

I cried, laughed and enjoyed this book being read to me. The narrator was excellent at painting the world into life.

Pleasantly surprised
So glad I bought this book even though I wasn't sure at first. Now I'm very attached to the characters and can't wait to read book 2. Hope there will be a book 3 as well. the sample I listened to had me on the fence but the narrator is actually very good and all her interpretations of the characters really brought them to life and were consistent. I would recommend it for people who enjoy fantasy that isn't too serious but fleshes out character motivations and has fun descriptions of action and good plot twists. And sexual content too of course! Not for prudes.
