À propos de cet audio
A gripping novel based on the astonishing true story of a boy who survived 10 concentration camps. Based on the true story by Ruth and Jack Gruener.
Ten concentration camps. Ten different places where you are starved, tortured, and worked mercilessly. It's something no one could imagine surviving. But it is what Yanek Gruener has to face. As a Jewish boy in 1930s Poland, Yanek is at the mercy of the Nazis, who have taken over. Everything he has and everyone he loves have been snatched brutally from him. And then Yanek himself is taken prisoner - his arm tattooed with the words PRISONER B-3087. He is forced from one nightmarish concentration camp to another as World War II rages all around him. He encounters evil he could have never imagined but also sees surprising glimpses of hope amid the horror. He just barely escapes death only to confront it again seconds later. Can Yanek make it through the terror without losing his hope, his will - and, most of all, his sense of who he really is inside?

D-Day, June 6, 1944: the most expansive military endeavor in history. No less than world cooperation would bring down Hitler and the Axis powers. And so people - and kids - across the globe lent their part. From the young US soldiers in the boats to spies in the French countryside, the coordination of thousands came together. Alan Gratz, author of the New York Times best-selling Refugee, explores the necessity of teamwork and heroism in dismantling tyranny in this epic, yet personal, look at D-Day in time for the 75th anniversary of the operation.

A story of courage and unbreakable spirit
Great story consisting of the harrowing adventure of Yannick and his ability to survive. I initially heard about this book on a Reddit forum and felt like learning about the more personal side of the holocaust. The depth of humanity that people can display during times of great conflict and loss contrasting to the soulless, heartless and unforgivable actions of oppressors is perfectly captured the story of this young man living through the horrors of being a Jew during World War II.

Great story. Such a tale of great things we’re capable of and the worst.
I couldn’t stop. Weather I was rooting for Jack or disgusted by the Germans and others. Perseverance does prevail. Thanks for sharing your story Jack. As for the narrator, good listening but I could have done without the “Yiddish” stereotypical Jewish accent when he spoke for the characters. It was quite irritating at times. If I read the book, there wouldn’t have been that accent so I would have preferred a straight read.

We are all so lucky!!!!
We are so afraid of the bills that come every month. We are all so afraid to do our dreams. After listening to this we must wake up. I hereby pledge to live out the greatest version of my life in honour of this prisoner.
