À propos de cet audio

The apex of the martial arts calls out. It challenges all to ascend.

Long Chao is the son of a hedge mage — a heretic cultivator. He doesn’t cultivate for power, but to satisfy his endless curiosity.

One fateful day, Xiao Huifen, a girl aiming to be the youngest Sky Realm cultivator in the Monolith continent’s history, crashes into his life. She’s from the world of top-ranked sects and strict cultivation methodologies. They share nothing in common except for the unquenchable desire to unlock heaven’s every mystery.

This is their journey.

However, the brightest glory casts the darkest shadow. Strength begets brutality. Long-life begets the foulest perversions. To those who dwell in the darkness, young cultivators such as them are nothing more than some of the finest resources. To use them as slaves. Refine them into pills.

When faced with such depravity, this unorthodox pair must do all they can to survive. Even if they do, how can they hope to remain unchanged?

This is a coming-of-age story that follows two paths to power. For one, it's long and arduous. Despite his unique insights, Long Chao must always strive to keep up with those around him. For the other, strength comes easy. Xiao Huifen isn't competing against her peers, but the vague legends of Divine cultivators.

A whole lotta GOOD, not alotta GREAT

Young boy who lives in seclusion has a chance meeting with beautiful and talented young girl. Together they leave his home and step forth into a harsh world of cultivation magic where practitioners are ruthless as they are fierce. They both aspire towards the peak of the martial arts, and as they spend time training with one another a budding romance emerges. Now they must navigate their feelings as well as progress their strength so that they can protect each other and fend of they evils of-- oh shit wait...sorry that was my Cradle review.

THE GOOD

-The romance between the two main characters is pretty nice. Id describe it as..PURE, or INNOCENT. Its simplistic. Girl likes Boy. Boy likes girl. But a simple romance is a rarity nowadays in fantasy lmao. There's no love triangle, no sexy sister in laws, no overly attractive best friend, no BS. Its refreshing to read something so adorable once in a while...like watching a animated movie meant for kids. That being said if your expecting a STEAMY Sarah J Mass "rip his shirt off in the kitchen" relationship id look elsewhere.

-The Narration is fantastic. Good job on both ends. Its difficult doing a book with multiple narrators because one usually ends up out shining the other. That wasn't the case at all here both narrators were on equal footing and did a decent job.

THE MEH

-POWER progression is not CHARACTER progression.

-The world building is borderline bad. I wont say its terrible but its definitely far from good. I was 15 hours in before i knew what the name of the damn planet was LOL, I thought they were referring to a continent. Imagery is barely provided at all. Too much is left to the imagination of the reader. I ASSUME because every one has a oriental name and cultivation is originally a Chinese based magic system that the architecture resembles stuff from the Ming dynasty, but hell it could look like upper state New York for all the info I get.

And the books number 1 school for cultivation is the joint sects of the Fire and Ice phoenix. But #1 doesn't mean shit to me if i don't know what the top 5 are, or even the top 3! First place means nothing if your the only one participating. The magic system wasn't TOO complicated but it felt like I was dropped into the third book of a continuing series. As if i was expected to know about cultivation prior to reading. Thank God I did. The world building is only provided through the eyes of the 2 main characters which make it feel quite,,,,NARROW. And because i know nothing about the world, when i hear phrases like ".....he shot towards the enemy like a TRAIN" ..it COMEPLETY breaks the immersion, Imagine Tolkien referencing 50.cal's when Legolas fires his bow. I usually rate "new" fantasy books 5 stars so people can give them a chance but you can tell the author did all this on PURPOSE. From what i can guess it seems the characters might be able to ASCEND to another realm, or change worlds, and im sure that'll happen in the next book. So with that most likely being the case, why waste time on world building when the next book they'll be on another world? Its pretty obvious thats the case and the book sadly suffers because of it. You cant give me so much "nothing" when the book is 35 HOURS!

Dont get me wrong, this book is well worth the credit. But its nothing incredible, And that's sad because i could tell it COULD have been great if they weren't trying to set so much up for a sequel, Im looking foward to the next book, And hope the sacrifices made in this book were worth it,

the female narrator whispers no matter what

when a person in the story shouts she whispers she is incapable of putting depth into anything it would be better if the male reader just did the whole thing because I found myself skimming through her parts lile no emotion at all in her reading I was not feeling it the story was good if you can look past the godawful narration also im not saying the male narrator was good either he was just better than her.

Couldn’t finish

I had an itch for a cultivation novel. THIS IS NOT IT. Some pathetic cringe teenage romance. 90% cringe 10% cultivation. Kept thinking it might start to get better. But it got worse i want the 20 hours i spent listening to this back. Im actually angry.
