One morning in 2008 he fell into a coma after suffering a rare form of bacterial meningitis. Scans of his brain revealed massive damage. Death was deemed the most likely outcome. Does not sound real

Honestly did not sound real. Its sounds too novel like than a depiction of what happened. I have heard better NDE that were more passionate and less book like than this. He never convinced me this happened cuz its too busy painting imaginary that is too bleak and lacking definition.
