Una trentina d'anni fa negli Stati Uniti si scopriva che spingendo una DeLorean a 88 miglia orarie, senza dimenticare di azionare il flusso canalizzatore, si poteva coronare un vecchio sogno dell'uomo mai tramontato, quello del viaggio nel tempo. Il 3 luglio 1985 era infatti arrivato nelle sale americane il primo capitolo della saga Back to the Future, una delle trilogie cinematografiche più amate degli ultimi anni. A sottolineare il peso che ha avuto la saga di Zemeckis nella vita americana basterebbe riprendere il "Discorso sullo stato dell'Unione" del 1986, una delle tappe fondamentali della vita politica statunitense. Quando l'allora presidente degli Stati Uniti, l'ex attore Ronald Reagan, inserì una citazione tratta proprio dal film: "Non c'è mai stata un'epoca più entusiasmante di questa in cui vivere, un tempo di crescenti meraviglie e di progressi eroici. Come dicono in Ritorno al futuro: Strade?! Dove stiamo andando non c'è bisogno di strade!"

On July 3, 1985 the first chapter of the saga Back to the Future arrived in theaters, one of the most popular movie trilogies in recent years. To underline the importance the saga had in American life, it was enough to take on the "State of the Union" of 1986, one of the milestones of US political life. The then US president, former actor Ronald Reagan, inserted a quote right from the movie into his speech: "There's never been a time more exciting than this in which to live, a time of increasing wonders and progress heroic. As they say in the Back to the Future: 'Roads? Where we're going , we don't need roads.'"
