Decent.
Though short, I enjoyed most of it. The ending was lackluster however. There was a lot of buildup for a very standard ending.

Confusing story, with unsatisfying conclusion
I think the plot is supposed to shed light on a case where Guilliman, full of confidence and idealism, encounters disaster as a result of his own misplaced conviction in the righteousness of his actions? The story uses the device of trying to get you to believe and sympathize with the characters, who in the end learn a lesson, are initially in the right. However through out the story it continuously feels like you are being presented with evidence that they ARE in the right. The characters who they "learn" from in the end continuously make bad decisions, or employ weak and self serving justifications for thier actions, which ultimately leads to the disaster. I think the ending is meant as a compromise ending where everyone learns something, but it is disjointed and abrupt. It lacks a sense of coherence in that everyone arrives at thier final character revelations at the climax of the book because the plot required them to. Even then the revelations seem weak and not grounded in the events of the story. In my opinion this is the weakest of the primach books so far; it offers a weak plot and does not highlight flaws or nuisances of the 13th Primach like the other books do. Even as "bolter porn" it feels unsatisfying due to how much time is spent on setting everything up as a clash of ideals, ethics and morality.
