Most people have heard of the Celts - the elusive, ancient tribal people who resided in present-day England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Paradoxically characterized as both barbaric and innocent, the Celts appeal to the modern world as a symbol of a bygone era, a world destroyed by the ambition of empire and the spread of Christianity throughout Western Europe. Despite the pervasive cultural and literary influence of the Celts, shockingly little is known of their way of life and beliefs, because very few records of their stories exist.

The Viking Age - from 750 to 1050 saw an unprecedented expansion of the Scandinavian peoples into the wider world. As traders and raiders, explorers and colonists, they ranged from eastern North America to the Asian steppe. But for centuries, the Vikings have been seen through the eyes of others, distorted to suit the tastes of medieval clerics and Elizabethan playwrights, Victorian imperialists, Nazis, and more. None of these appropriations capture the real Vikings, or the richness and sophistication of their culture.

In this book, third generation hereditary witch Lisa Lister explains the history behind witchcraft, why identifying as a healer in past centuries led women to be burned at the stake, and why the witch is reawakening in women across the world today. This book provides an overview of the different schools of witchcraft and the core principles and practices within them.

Jarring reading for an interesting subject.
Narration is so bad I'm going to try to get a refund. The pronunciation (or pronunsayshun as the narrator says it) of words is difficult to listen to (could be a regional American accent but I don't know, all the vowels are over pronounced) and the reading is poorly cut with inconsistent volume. Only gave story 3 stars because it's so hard to absorb any info. Listening to her butcher Yggdrasil (Yewgdrasih[l] for the Danes or Igdrasih for the Norwegians NOT IGdraSAHY) and the historian Tacitus (Tassitus not TACKYTOOS) was physically painful to endure. They're vowels not assault weapons.
