À propos de cet audio
All the best in humanity rises to meet a powerful alien threat in the sequel to Salvation - part of an all-new trilogy from "the owner of the most powerful imagination in science fiction" (Ken Follett).
The comparative utopia of 23rd-century Earth is about to go dreadfully awry when a seemingly benign alien race is abruptly revealed to be one of the worst threats humanity has ever faced. Driven by an intense religious extremism, the Olyix are determined to bring everyone to their version of god as they see it. But they may have met their match in humanity, who are not about to go gently into that good night or spend the rest of their days cowering in hiding. As human ingenuity and determination rises to the challenge, collective humanity has only one goal - to wipe this apparently undefeatable enemy from the face of creation. Even if it means playing a ridiculously long game indeed.
But in a chaotic universe, it is hard to plan for every eventuality, and it is always darkest before the dawn.

Hard Core Believable
Not a fan of hard sci-fi, but everything about this works. I feel like I’m learning as much as I’m enjoying the story. Such great science! Such great possibilities!

Why Did This Book Get Cut In Half
Direct and action packed Hamilton in peak form for most of this book, and it listens like this was all one manuscript and the cutting up into books 1 and 2was arbitrary and unsatisfying.
Glad I listened to both books back to back, it pays off, and looking forward to book 3.

Great story, well written, thoughtful and deep
Peter F. Hamilton has written some great stories over the years. This is another. It took a while to get into the story as I was listening to the book while studying for an accounting exam - not recommended - this series requires your attention... I had to listen to the book twice and may yet play it a third time as I am certain I missed a few nuances of the story (yes, there is detail that you actually need to pay attention to..). Enjoyed the storyline and the concepts which are quite unique and bring into play a number of concepts that I have not seen in other science fiction. Another nice aspect of this story is that it is not always clear who the good guys are - it is nice to have some ambiguity and shades of gray (almost like real life). The split timelines take a bit of focus and patience, but you can visualize the plot lines coming together especially towards the end of this story. From my perspective, the only con on this audible book is the narration - John Lee uses the same voices for different characters in different books, and if you have listened to other John Lee narrations, that will cause a bit of character confusion. Also, it would be nice to have a female narrator for the female characters. Aside from that, highly recommended and cannot wait for the final book.

Good story, but didn’t like the voice performance
This story follows the same structure of Hamilton’s other stories. There are high and low tech narratives operating in tandem, and the connection between the storylines is revealed as the story progresses. I wish we spent more time in the high tech era, since the concepts and events are much more interesting. I enjoyed it but I prefer the first arc of the commonwealth saga and great north road more, because many ideas in the salvation sequence are riffs on concepts established in those earlier stories. The narrator of the audio version is a snooze, and his character voices are cringeworthy. Other narrators choose to capture the emotional energy of a character, but this guy is pitching his voice up for female characters and doing accents that are not very good. After reading the first book I decided to get the audio version of the second volume thinking it would be fun to listen to in the gym. Having heard it, I’ll probably switch back to reading for the third volume.
