Histoire
Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

Histoire
Nathan's life was defined by labs and lectures until an Archmage yanked him into Davrar and made him a tantalizing offer: master magic in exchange for Earth's scientific secrets. Yet, Nathan can't shake off the feeling that darker truths lurk beneath such promises. The world of Davrar is a dangerous place teeming with dungeons and monsters–ruled by levels, Talents, and a near-infinite progression of power. Nathan will need to rely on himself to survive, forging alliances and taking every advantage he can get against those that seek to control him.

Histoire
Noah didn’t expect much from entering the virtual reality world of Asgard’s Fall. Even the danger of the experimental full immersion technology didn’t put him off. It beat living in a nursing home, and it was supposed to let him feel young again...at least until modern medicine and his body gave out. But there was something wrong with Asgard’s Fall. Most of the time, the “gods” running the game didn’t act like AIs were supposed to. Some of the players took things too seriously, like they knew something about the game that Noah didn’t.

Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: A giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time. So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes", "levels", and "quests", Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change. After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

Description
"I've awakened in a stone box about the size of a large coffin.... I'm filthy, everything aches, and, by the various so-called gods, I smell awful. I've woken up in worse places. Hmm. What does that say about my life choices?" (Eric, amateur magician, part-time vampire, and accidental king)
It's not easy being king. Especially when you've got an allergy to sunrise and sunset, a fire goddess for a mother-in-law, demonic adversaries, random assassins, and a basement full of insecurities to cope with. Add to that his daughter, the fire priestess/princess; a couple of lightly deranged professional magicians; a whole city full of wizards; and enough squabbling princes to resemble a kindergarten argument. It's enough to make a man want to just go home. Luckily for Eric, he has the world's fastest pet rock, a smart-mouthed sword, and a horse that not only understands him but likes him anyway.

great book... I'm not stoked with the ending
I loved the entire world building of the book the the ending left me wanted an alternate finish. I'm still fan of the series and hope the next one will start off at a good pace.

One of my favorite
I have listened to this series 11 times so far and this is a great one watching him build and grow his strength and understanding amazing. The character building is one I admire and love to watch. Such a great hero to watch and see his personal struggle.

Wow, a different type of vampires series!
I am only at book 2 and looking forward to book 3!
as a person who listens to a lot of different audio books on this platform this must be the best vampire series that I have heard here!
The only better vampire story that I have ever listened to is Underwood & Flinch, unfortunately it is not available on Audible. If it was I would purchase it as well.

I'm ending it here, save the time quit now
2hours left to go on book 2 and I'm at my breaking point, the author is really taking a piss here. hoping against all odds that the books get better I went ahead and read the reviews on books 3 and 4.....yeee I think its safe to say I wont be getting anymore of those series
the author does not tie up a lot of loose ends and I find that the main characters inner monologues take up a significant portion of the book filling it with useless info and self pity. "i dont want to be king"
I love long books I feel like if I'm to spend the money on a non physical copy it should atleast be 20+ hours long so I tried really hard to love these books. reality is a bitch.
Garon I really hope you read this...you had a brilliant world in your hands...its a shame that you didnt take full advantage of it.
thanks but no thanks.

Still needs a Editor
Just like the previous novel, there is a lot of pointless side quests and ramblings. Some parts are very good and quite exciting; makes this series worth buying part 3 but much of the novel is pointless fluff as the author explains how all the pseudo-science-magic things work in this universe (which is nice but gives 0 contribution to the plot)
Our protagonist continues to be universally loved by everyone and everything. Some of the scenerios are also so eye rolling cliche that the novel must be set down.
With lots of skipping and speeding, this novel continues to be a interesting vampiric twist to a medieval hero fantasy.

What an awful ending
I really enjoyed the first book despite the annoying nature of the MC. Its rare to find a book about science, vampires, city building all in one. The second book had all of what the first contained but was absolutely ruined by the ending. I do not care nor want to know what happens next and reading the synopsis of Book 3 makes me even less interested.
Its disappointing that the author chose to basically make all of the MCs actions up until the ending useless.
